Carroll Lutheran Village’s Future:

Ministry of Caring Endowment

For over 25 years, Carroll Lutheran Village has sought after and recognized charitable gifts for a variety of needs. The primary focus however, is the need to increase the Ministry of Caring Endowment that exists to provide financial support for residents who exhaust their financial resources. Now at just over $7M, the Endowment provides limited assistance while the need continues to rise annually.

In FY 2007, Carroll Lutheran Village provided $1.1M in subsidy throughout the Village. This increase in one year of --% from FY 2006 indicates the future need of care and service as residents continue to reach ages that match the national trend of the fastest growing age group of 85 and over. The cumulative total of subsidy for the past five fiscal years is $4M. Carroll Lutheran Village’s mission is to ensure that residents will be cared for in a compassionate and dignified manner.

You can help with your financial support of older adults who simply run out of financial resources to maintain their dignity at a most vulnerable point in their lives.

Pension Protection Act for 2007 – IRA Rollovers
Our tax system has encouraged charitable giving in our country for a long time. Gifts to qualified charities may be deducted from income that could otherwise be subject to tax under Federal law.

In August of 2006, the Pension Protection Act was passed by Congress allowing individuals to utilize funds in their traditional or Roth Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) to make charitable contributions free of tax obligations. With this action, people over age 70 ˝ can withdraw up to $100,000 in 2007 to make a charitable gift. This is good news for individuals who are required to take unneeded IRA withdrawals and others who have experienced limitations in receiving tax benefits in the past. The full benefit of this opportunity can be found by completing each year’s transfer prior to December 31. This law must be re-enacted for it to extend beyond 2007. Contact your rollover administrator for the appropriate forms.
